RISE THERAPY
I'm Michelle, a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in supporting women and mothers.
I’m here to offer you compassionate support in a confidential, safe space where together we can explore whatever life stage you’re in. Whether you are feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed or just stuck, I can help you make sense of what is going on and provide tools to help you cope during difficult times and work with you towards change.
I’m a mother of two, and although my children are no longer little, I haven’t forgotten how emotionally and physically demanding those early years of motherhood can be. I also understand the loneliness that can come with raising children away from family support and without a ready-made village around you.
Once my children started nursery and school, I made the decision to pursue something meaningful for myself and began training as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My own experiences of motherhood shape the compassionate and supportive way I work with women and mothers today.
To reach out for a chat contact me below for a free introductory phone call to discuss what you’re looking for from counselling,
I offer in-person sessions from my garden therapy studio in
Tunbridge Wells, or online sessions.

For many women, it’s so easy to put everyone else’s needs before your own. You might tell yourself your struggles aren’t serious enough to seek support, or that you should just keep going. But you don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point. If you’ve noticed you’re not coping as well as you used to, or something just doesn’t feel quite right, that’s reason enough to reach out and explore counselling.
HOW I WORK
Compassionately
It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and safe to explore what’s going on for you in a supportive environment. My aim is to work with you on shifting unhelpful patterns, and help you move towards healthier ways of living and relating to yourself.
Flexibly
I offer in-person as well as online therapy. It's important to me that you can receive care in a comfortable and secure environment and at a time that fits around your busy schedule. I have a private garden therapy studio at my home in Tunbridge Wells for in person sessions, or I can offer online therapy sessions too.
Practically
Real change begins with self-awareness. And that’s where counselling can help. By understanding your patterns, behaviours, and where they come from, you can make more conscious choices and create lasting change. These sessions are tailored to create tools and strategies to support you.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
This is a 30 minute informal chat and is free of charge.
Deciding whether to have therapy takes alot of courage and finding the right therapist for you is an important decision. The initial introductory phonecall is an opportunity for you to explain what it is you’re seeking from counselling, and for me to describe how I work. It’s important you feel comfortable working with me, and for me to make sure that I am the best person to help you.
If we decide to book in some sessions - our first session will be an assessment where I run through some questions and discover more about you and your goals for counselling.
-
This assessment session is slightly longer and lasts up to an hour. This session will involve fact-finding, form-filling, and a discussion of your goals in coming to therapy. It is charged at the usual rate.
-
You are under no obligation to continue with therapy after either the free telephone introduction or the first assessment session, although the usual fee is payable for the assessment session.
-
After your assessment, we can discuss how many sessions you might need. I normally suggest a minimum of 6 sessions.
-
Sessions are confidential to the client.
The only exceptions to this are:
Supervision – all therapists are ethically bound to take their work for clinical supervision by a supervisor, who also adheres to confidentiality.
Safety – if a therapist believes that a client is a danger to him/herself or others, or if a child is at risk of harm, then action will be taken.
Legal obligation – in exceptional circumstances there may be legal reasons why I have to disclose my records, such as in response to a court order.
All clients are provided with my full Privacy Policy at the start of therapy so you understand how your sensitive personal information is protected.
-
Online and in-person sessions -
£60 per session
I can also offer a limited number of concessions to students or unwaged at £40 per session. -
I understand that life happens, so please let me know as soon as possible if you can’t make your session. I normally request 2 full working days’ notice of cancellation, otherwise the session fee will be charged.
